A couple months ago I got the chance to participate in a great event here in LA.  When I was engaged back in 2009/2010 The NotWedding in Atlanta was one of the few sources for non-traditional wedding inspiration and I always hoped that it would make its way to the west coast so to say I was excited to be asked to join the very first LA event would be a big understatement.  We got to design several tables at the event from the linens to the centerpieces using their neon, urban chic board for inspiration. We found ourselves also inspired by Kate Spade, geometric shapes and a little touch of retro.   I personally LOVE how the centerpieces turned out and that the tables are a little more modern, bold and playful…a look I’d love to recreate for a real wedding!  Big thanks to Candice Benjamin for these photos!

roomforty Pop-up Dinners

I can’t even begin to tell you how happy I am that my path crossed with roomforty’s a few months ago.  Steve, Lisa and the rest of the gang over there are pretty awesome folks and are doing crazy amazing things in the catering world.  Not only do they serve up some of the most creative, delicious, beautiful food for weddings and events but they also host pop-up dinners in LA and Orange County that you are not going to want to miss.  I was so honored that Steve asked me to provide florals for their last pop-up dinner at one of my favorite places in LA – the last bookstore.  On a recent walk I had found these crazy vines taking over an alley by our new house/studio in Pasadena and had been waiting for the opportunity to do some ninja foraging.  I love how the wild yet elegant arrangements turned out!  Feast your eyes on Ashley Kelemen’s beautiful photos from the evening…and then sign yourself up for May’s pop-up dinner!!!

Inspiration for the Los Alamos Ranch Wedding

OH and I have to share the inspiration board for this dreamy coastal ranch wedding.  We really wanted to take inspiration from the natural beauty of the ranch with a little bit of a nod to the Southern California coast.  The result was an earthy elegance that matched the setting so perfectly.

I am seriously behind on blogging!   There are so many amazing events in the queue that I’m dying to share with you…some are waiting to be published on blogs and in magazines and some, well, I’ve just been too busy to blog.  BUT I really, really need to share this Los Alamos wedding with you.  I know I say this every time but it really was one of my favorite weddings and this straight-out-of-a-Ralph-Lauren-ad-couple were my dream client.  They are so sweet and smart and funny and just plain awesome!  This wedding definitely kicked my butt since it was on a HUGE ranch and these party animals were going strong till 2am but it was worth it!  Check out more pictures from the oh-so-talented Ken Kienow on Style Me Pretty!

It’s that time of year again!  I’m looking to bring on a fresh, new face to the SEJ team this wedding season.  This is an unpaid intern position but a great opportunity for someone who wants to see how a small wedding biz is run as well as learn more about wedding planning, design, decor production and florals!

Requirements:

Based in Los Angeles / Pasadena

Must be available on event dates plus possibly 1-2 days a week to work in the studio located in Pasadena

Interested in learning more about wedding planning and design including florals

Must be stylish, sweet and savvy

Must have own car 

 

Duties:

Office organization

Inspiration research 

Decor creation and floral design assistance

Coordination assistance on day-of

Jenn Proske - Since I’ve been engaged & have started planning our wedding, I’ve only been to one wedding- and I feel like it was the most incredibly insightful, helpful thing EVER! I saw what worked, what didn’t, what I loved, and what I would definitely want to change when we have our big day.
