We are pretty excited about our Fig House weddings this year and reminiscing about Fig House weddings past. This intimate, romantic wedding was one of our favorites with the nicest bride and groom you will ever meet. We loved the simple, elegant design with the showstopper DIY paper backdrop that we installed to jazz about the dance floor and dinner party. We love all parties whether you have 300 guests or 35 but there is just something about a small wedding that gets us every time. The photos from Gina Shoots Weddings seriously brought every dreamy moment to life.
This Millwick wedding was epic from the heartfelt ceremony beginning to the bride and groom ending things behind the bar! It was elegant, modern, quirky and romantic all rolled into one gorgeous fete. We feel beyond lucky that we got to provide florals as well as month-of coordination and our amazing lead coordinator Katie got to team up with this top notch team of vendors. The photos from Gantes Co perfectly capture the essence of every moment and the overall magic of this special day.
When I met Jordan for the first time I knew that I had to be a part of her and Michael’s wedding. She was so genuine, sweet and creative. Her wedding plans were unique and so cool. I couldn’t wait to see it all come to life. The day, despite an incorrect weather forecast, was perfect. Luckily, even though weather.com told me otherwise, I had a feeling it was going to rain and bought 30 umbrellas at the dollar store on my way to the wedding. The moments that the incredible Allison Harp captured of their dinner under umbrellas in the alley are some of my favorites!

When I’m designing a wedding I tend to focus more on how I can best represent the couple through design rather than on the latest trends. Most often than not, however, the client will come to me with a pinterest board full of the most popular images and styles floating around. And that’s totally fine….there’s a reason why the trends become, well, trends and it’s fun to incorporate one or two once in awhile. Part of my job is to look past the trends and see if there is a way we can put a twist on them that makes sense with the couples’ style and personality. I don’t usually make yearly wedding trend lists but for 2017 I feel like there are going to be some contenders that I can get behind. Here are just a few –
I am so, so happy that minimalist design is finally becoming more popular in the wedding world. I am a big supporter of less is more and, thanks to so many great designers like Joy Thigpen and Ginny Au setting the bar way high, tables are getting a little less cluttered and everything is looking a little more magical.
Organic Floral Arrangements
Flowers are my greatest love and I swoon over ethereal, organic, wild arrangements. There has been a shift over the years from tight, perfectly round centerpieces to more asymmetrical, flowing styles. This year we’ll see even more breathing room in between flowers and, of course, lots and lots of greens.
And that brings us to the color of the year – greenery. Last year we made more garlands than I can possibly count and this year it isn’t looking very different. The garland is here to stay…at least for another year or so. But I love seeing greenery in abundance in areas too – the arch, fireplace, even trees brought inside a gorgeous tent.
And speaking of greens (again). We kind of called it two years ago but I still have so many clients wanting to go in a more tropical direction and I couldn’t be happier. There is a way to do tropical without being cheesy I swear! Simple bud vases with monstera leaves and pops of color and minimal (there’s that word again!) tablescapes.
Wedding Coordination and Wedding Design: Sweet Emilia Jane
Jen and Brian’s wedding at The Loft on Pine was one of the most beautiful weddings I have ever laid my eyes upon. Organic and lovely florals from the one and only Honey and Poppies paired with modern touches, ghost chairs, gorgeous bridesmaids all in black and, of course, the stunning backdrop of The Loft on Pine made for a perfect modern wedding that was chic, warm and inviting. So much more of Erin Hearts Courts phenomenal photos on Green Wedding Shoes!

I met Maryanne and Matt when they were stocking up on wedding gear and bought some items from my studio sale. It turned out that they had to quickly change venues and needed some help with coordinating in the new space. It was quite the serendipitous meeting as I was already planning on being at their wedding with The Little Branch. I am so thrilled that they brought us on board to help execute their dreamy woodsy wedding. There was so much love surrounding every moment and the heart and soul that Maryanne and Matt put into each and every detail, that Martina Micko and Christian and Reinna captured, was incredible. There is even more up on Ruffled Blog too!

Apparently this is the year of close friends and family getting married and we are loving every minute of it! A dear, dear friend of ours got hitched at Luce Loft in San Diego and it was just amazing. Of course, The Heart’s Haven was there to capture every detail! We tucked succulents and airplants into lush eucalyptus garlands with geometric lanterns, terrariums and candles mixed throughout. I loved the organic meets industrial vibe with an edgy flair that was so fitting of Sarah and Jay.
There aren’t too many things more awesome then being a part of your best friend’s wedding. I was lucky enough to get to help my dearest friends Dannikke and Evan with some of their planning, design and flowers for their epic ranch wedding in Santa Barbara. He is a super talented designer and she is a kickass TV/Film coordinator so obviously they took the design blueprint I made for them and created the most awesome, branded decor I’ve ever seen from the invitations to their cornhole boards! But the best part of the weekend had to be being surrounded by all the love from their family and friends at the beautiful Circle Bar B Ranch. Oh yeah and doing the wave during the ceremony! Definitely a first for me! This just a handful of the delightful moments captured by The Heart’s Haven.
